A characterful way to deepen your connection to this special corner of Scotland, this handmade print of Belted Galloway coos lets you take home a little taste of Dumfries and Galloway - whether you're a local, a visitor, or simply a lover of quirky cows!

Known affectionately as Belties, these iconic black-and-white cows are a familiar sight in the region. There's a quiet charm to the way a herd of these monochrome marvels move across their field - and I couldn't resist capturing them in print.

This design is printed by hand through stencils onto softly textured Zerkall paper, which is torn for a deckled edge. The result is a minimalist composition with maximum personality — a quiet celebration of the rural landscape of south west Scotland.

Fun fact: The name Team BG was a playful nod to Team GB during the London Olympics back in 2012, when I printed the very first batch (or herd!). Not surprisingly, it’s still one of my most-loved prints — who can resist a Beltie pic?

Here’s why this one's a favourite with both locals and visitors:

  • A charming tribute to one of Scotland’s most iconic native breeds
  • The bold black silhouettes create a striking contemporary look
  • Comes mounted and beautifully presented — the framed version is ready to hang instantly (this is not a standard frame size, so framed is your most convenient option)
  • A thoughtful gift for countryside lovers, proud Scots, or anyone with fond memories of Dumfries and Galloway
  • Brings a sense of place, personality, and a quiet smile to any wall

Helpful Details - Extra information about sizing, materials, and how your print will arrive:

Is this an original, or a reproduction print?

This is a hand-made original pochoir (stencilled) print, meticulously crafted by me in my Kirkcudbright studio. I printed the design with sponges through a series of hand cut stencils onto smooth, creamy Zerkall paper with archival pigment inks to create this keepsake artwork - make it yours to treasure for years to come.

How big is it?

If you're buying an unframed print the size refers to the overall size of the mount.

If you're choosing the framed version, the size refers to the overall frame size, which is larger due to the width of the frame moulding.

What type of paper is it printed on?

The paper for this print is Zerkall printmaking paper - a smooth paper with a warm, creamy tone. The inks are water-based pigment inks of archival quality for longevity.

Does it come with the mount?

Yes! The bespoke double bevel-cut mount is included in both the unframed and framed versions.

How is it packed for posting?

Unframed prints are sent in a protective sleeve within a rigid cardboard mailing envelope.

Framed prints are packaged with protective bubble and/or cardboard for safe transit.

Is the packaging eco friendly?

All packaging is as environmentally friendly as possible, and can be reused or recycled.

What are the delivery costs and timescales?

No extra shipping costs are added at check out - the price you see is the price you pay! Hand-made prints are created, mounted and framed in my studio. For unframed pieces, the delivery time is generally within 1 week as these are usually in stock, ready to send out to you. Please note that framed versions may not be immediately available, so could take upto 2/3 weeks to arrive. I will be in touch to advise of a delivery timescale once you've placed your order.

What about returns and refunds?

In the unlikely event that your print arrives damaged, please contact me to arrange a replacement or refund.

Returns for any other reason are discretionary, and limited to 30 days from placing your order. Please get in touch and I'll aim to help you out.
