Collection: Windswept Hawthorn Trees Series - original woodblock prints

This series of original handmade woodblock prints is inspired by windswept hawthorn trees photographed along the shoreline near Carrick in Dumfries and Galloway.

Printed in black ink on cream paper, these minimalist tree prints form a quietly dramatic coastal landscape when displayed together. Each piece is individually hand printed, with subtle variations that reflect the nature of traditional printmaking.

Four original handmade woodblock prints of windswept hawthorn trees displayed in a row on a dark neutral wall, forming a quietly dramatic monochrome coastal landscape.

Creating Original Prints

Every original print is created by hand in my Kirkcudbright studio using a variety of printmaking techniques including woodblock, linocut and stencilling. From carving the design to mixing inks and pressing each impression, every stage of the process is carried out slowly and thoughtfully.
Because each print is individually inked and pressed by hand, subtle variations in texture and colour are part of what makes each piece unique. These small differences are a reminder of the handmade process behind every artwork.
