This miniature mushroom woodblock print draws you in for a closer look.
On a woodland walk on the Isle of Arran, I kept noticing small, bright red mushroom caps standing out against the greens and browns of the forest floor. Attracted by the colour, I felt the need to lean in and investigate the finer details.
Mushrooms often exist in perfect form for only a short time, before they begin to decay or are claimed by the forest around them. Seeing this one at just the right moment, in its prime, felt special, and I wanted to honour both the subject and the experience in print form.
The scale of this print reflects that experience particularly well — though the image is small, it draws the viewer closer, encouraging a slower, more attentive way of seeing. Rather than making a statement from across a room, this piece offers something more intimate: an invitation to pause, look again, and connect with the beauty and perfection found in small natural forms.
This tiny design has been hand-carved into wood and printed by hand, with each colour built up in layers. Every print is made individually, creating subtle variations that reflect the handmade process. Each piece is carefully crafted and intended to be lived with — a quiet work to return to and look at over time.
Available mounted in either a 10" × 10" format with generous white space, or a more compact 8" × 8" presentation. Both allow the small image room to breathe, while offering slightly different proportions depending on your space.
