I carved a block based on Koson's design to print originals in black only (see here) but I also used that block in a one-off experiment to create a colour version. This gift print is an excellent quality reproduction of that colour original. I'm delighted with how the watercolour effect, handmade feel, and embossing are all evident in the reproduction of this snowy scene.

Winter Stillness is a quiet tribute to the season of rest. As snow falls gently, the egret pauses on its branch, perfectly at ease in the hush of winter. There is no sense of urgency here — only balance, patience, and acceptance as nature withdraws and gathers strength beneath the surface. This print invites a moment of stillness, a reminder that rest is not emptiness, but an essential and beautiful part of the cycle.

This tranquil design is taken from my original woodblock version of this print. It is made using archival inks on softly textured bamboo paper, and is mounted to fit a standard 10" x 14" frame.
