Collection: Inspired by Japan - original handmade prints

Japan has influenced the way I see and make art for a long time. These prints draw on ideas that continue to inspire me: simplicity, balance, close observation and finding beauty in everyday subjects. This collection includes my own original creations alongside reimagined classics by artists such as Hiroshige, Koson, and Narumi.

Creating Original Prints

Every original print is created by hand in my Kirkcudbright studio using a variety of printmaking techniques including woodblock, linocut and stencilling. From carving the design to mixing inks and pressing each impression, every stage of the process is carried out slowly and thoughtfully.
Because each print is individually inked and pressed by hand, subtle variations in texture and colour are part of what makes each piece unique. These small differences are a reminder of the handmade process behind every artwork.
